Products and Services
Lifehacker.com
Well, to be honest I had a bit of mental block this week on selecting a product or service to write about.  So instead, I thought I would let you know where I have found a lot of great products, services, and tips/tricks in the past – Lifehacker.com

Lifehacker.com is an “award-winning daily blog that features tips, shortcuts, and downloads that help you get things done smarter and more efficiently.”  A quick visit to the site and you will likely leave with a quick tip or service to try out that will save you time.  That is unless you spend more time looking for time saving tips than actually working on what is taking up your time.  Not that I have ever done that before.

News and Facts
I don’t want to be your Facebook friend
Sometimes a friend request on Facebook is easy to ignore, but when it is a colleague it can sometimes be a little tricky.  The Globe and Mail had an article this week explaining some options.  The functionality to create ‘Friend Lists’ and set different privacy settings can be very useful, not just for restricting what is visible to ‘colleagues’ but other groups as well (e.g. maybe your family doesn’t need to see all your pictures).

Tips and Tricks
Simplenote
An app for simple text notes that I started using this week.  I know a number of readers have either an iPhone/iPod Touch and Simplenote is a free application for the iPhone/iPod Touch.  Once downloaded, you can create free account through the app, which gives you access to the web application as well.  I heard about it from Merlin Mann on a recent MacBreak Weekly podcast.  What do you use it for?  Currently I have the following simple text lists: books I want to read, movies and TV shows I want to watch, groceries, and quotes.  The files are available from any computer through the web application or my iPod Touch through the free app, with the service syncing the changes made on either one.

Followupthen A free reminder service, Followupthen works by emailing, CCing, or BCCing the service to receive an email reminder within a specific time period.  For example, email 1day@followupthen.com and you will receive an email reminder of the email you sent the service in one day.  If you email someone and CC 1day@followupthen.com both people will receive an email reminder in one day (unless the email was responded to and 1day@followupthen.com was included in the ‘Reply All’).  A little confusing so check out the website and the video explanation.
